It's time for Awana Again!

I have worked all week trying to come up with songs for my Awana girls. I love the words to this song."Shadow Of Your Cross - Joel Engle" I wish I could down load this song and play it on my blog. It is just beautiful! We are also going to sing "Every move I made" by Out of Eden

Tonight, will be a very busy night for me in Awana. I am giving the council time message, promoting our Awana Grand Prix (our family has won first place over all three years in a row) My husband take a lot of time to build our Awana Cars. I also lead the music for the 3rd and 4th grade girls.

I'm not complaining; I really love every minute of it. I just have a busy day preparing for tonight. This blog helps keep me organized.

Shadow Of Your Cross - Joel Engle

Lamb of God, Son of man how you suffered how You bled
With a crown of thorns pressed upon Your head
You chose the road of pain
You walked the hill of all my shame, all my shame

chorus:
In the shadow of Your cross, I will live for all my days
How could I forget the price You paid
In the shelter of Your love I will give You all my praise
In the shadow of Your cross I will stay

Man of sorrows crucified pure and holy sacrifice
As the hammer hit the nail You offered up Your life
You gave up heaven for Your own
You took our punishment alone
You were so alone

chorus

Bridge:
O King of Majesty
Forever I will sing
Of the gift You gave to me
You gave to me

chorus

The girls asked last week if we could sing this song

Hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, your love makes me sing

Your love is amazing, steady and unchanging
Your love is a mountain, firm beneath my feet
Your love is a mystery, how you gently lift me
When I am surrounded, your love carries me

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, your love makes me sing
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, your love makes me sing

Your love is surprising, I can feel it rising
All the joy that's growing deep inside of me
Every time I see you, all your goodness shines through
And I feel this God song, rising up in me

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, your love makes me sing
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, your love makes me sing

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, Your love makes me sing
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, Your love makes me sing

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, Your love makes me sing
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Hallelujah, Your love makes me sing

For those of you who have no idea what Awana is, I added this for you.

What is Awana?

Awana is an international youth program offered by Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church 8351 Magnolia Avenue Riverside, CA as a positive influence in the development of young people. The Awana name is derived from an idea in the Bible found in II Timothy 2:15 which reads, "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed." Why Awana? In the purpose of Awana is stated best in the pledge to the Awana flag, "I pledge allegiance to the Awana flag, which stands for the Awana Clubs, whose goal is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ, and train them to serve Him.

What do Awana Clubs teach?

The Gospel of Jesus Christ. Everyone is a sinner (Romans 3:23) and in God's eyes deserves eternal punishment in hell (Romans 6:23, Revelation 20:15). But Jesus Christ, God's Son, paid the penalty for our sin when He was crucified on the cross and arose from the dead (Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). If we trust Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, we receive God's gift of eternal life in heaven. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Salvation is a free gift; we cannot buy it or earn it by doing good works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Instead we must simply accept it. Each child and leader must understand this important message, for it is what our Awana Clubs teach and the reason for their existence.
Who may attend? Boys, Girls, and teens age 3 thru Jr. High School.

When does Awana Meet?

Our Awana clubs meet every Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. during the school year.

Why should your kids attend?

Awana offers sound Biblical instruction, scripture memory, organized games, great Christian Fellowship, and awards for completing scripture verses and good sportsmanship.

Awana sounds like a wonderful Christian youth program. We always had our kids actively involved in our Youth Group at our church. Nothing like good Christian Fellowship. Love that you and your hubby are involved too. The words to the songs are beautiful! I especially like the first one. :)

I've seen this word a lot but didn't really know what it meant. Now I do.

Thanks for explaining Awana. You soon will be teaching your Creation class to them.

Pamela,

I am enjoying working in Awana again. It is so much fun. The girls loved the songs.

Jill,

I know all churches don't have Awana programs but I am sure there are some
other very good Christian programs for children. This one fall along the lines of a Boy Scoot or Girl Scott program.

Jim,
Next week I get to do my creation class. The Trivia went over really well with the girls. One of the girls got all but one of them right? I was really amazed.
