What does your name mean? A trip to the Dentist

I have been to the dentist this morning... enough said! I thought I'd visit blogs and pray the throbbing in my mouth goes away soon. ADVIL!! I spent an hour and a half with my mouth open, and they wouldn't even let me talk. Hee, Hee

I can never understand why dentists try to talk to their patients while they're working on their teeth. Do they honestly expect an intelligible answer? You're laying there trying to hold your mouth as widely open as you can, and you can't close it more than about a cenitmeter before they tell you to keep it open, how do these people think you're going to pronouce words of the English language if you can't move your mouth? Apparently they don't actually expect you to, and there are now classes in Gargle at dentist school. (Just kidding) At least I'm guessing that's how they do it, because my dentist has been able to hold conversations with me while I'm laying there for the last 10 years.

Today, we were (He was) discussing working-out; He works out on his treadmill every day. His assistant swims at the Y every morning. I think the New Year brought all this on. I grunted out my answers the best I could but I have no idea how they understood what I said?

Moving right along...

I found this on someones blog and decided to try it myself. Sorry, but I don't remember where I seen it?

Lori seems to mean many different things and given the day, they all seem to fit. : )

I think that must mean I have many different personalities.

Merry Christmas from our house to Yours!

I just got home from work, the kids are up looking through their stockings waiting for Grandma to come over at 8:00 a.m. so we can open their gifts. We will be heading off to my son and daughter-in-laws today at 1:00 p.m. and over to my Mom and Dad's house at 7:00 p.m. to enjoy Christmas with the family.

I pray all of you have a wonderful Christmas.

The Birth of Christ

Christ is born
Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to the city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the House of David. The virgin's name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, "Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!" But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was.

Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son and you shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His Kingdom there will be no end."

Then Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?" And the angel answered and said unto her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, the Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God."

Then Mary said, "Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, and angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, Son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name, Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."

So this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Prophet, saying: "Behold a virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Emanuel, which is translated, God with us." Then Joseph being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And called His name, Jesus.

And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This census first took place while Quirnius was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. Joseph also went up out of Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and of the lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.

So it was that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea on the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, "Where is He who had been born the King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him."

When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered together all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. So the said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the Prophet: "But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are not the least among the rulers of Judah; for out of shall come a Ruler who will shepherd My people Israel." Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared.

And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found him, bring back word to me, the I may come and worship Him also." When they heard the king, they departed; and behold the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. When they saw the star they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.

And when they had come into the manger, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshipped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, the presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Then being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, the departed for the own country another way.

Now there were in the country, shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, the angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring great tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"

So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us." And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in the manger. Now when they had seen Him, the made widely known the saying which was told to them concerning the Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept these things and pondered them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen as it was told them.

"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given, And the government shall be upon His shoulders. And His name will be called, Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace, there will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice, from that time forward, even forever."

A nice greeting from Aaron

Hey Sis, Mama, and all my blogging friends,

Here is a warm greeting from my handsome Sailor. We have been a bit busy finishing up our shopping tonight. I am so happy to have my baby home for a few weeks.

I thought our Christmas tree was large until I see Aaron in front of it.

I always love the smile pictures.

Dear Becca,

I know you are sad about not being able to be with us Christmas morning. I sent you those Jingle Bells so you would remember home and your silly mom every time you hear them. I want you to remember even though you are not with us in bodily form you are in our hearts. I love you more than I can tell you.

Leaving Michigan was a big step for you. You left everything you knew; Your family (Your wonderful, beautiful, loving mother) your friends, and a very good job. All to start a new life and bring joy to your grandfather. You have made your Grandpa such a happy man, every time I talk to him he is on the verge of tears. He said, "you have brought youth back into his life".

He loves you dearly Bec.

I knew you wouldn't be able to see the tree with all it's gifts until Wednesday so I thought I'd post this little post for you.

Remember, home is where the heart is, you know you are loved by all.

I thought the tears would flow while writing this letter to you princess. No tears, they were all used up last week. I am just happy to see how my children have grown and matured over the years.

Merry Christmas Princess, you will always be my baby girl.

I love you with all my heart, miles and time do not erase love.

BTW-If your brother sees these pictures I posted of him. He will kill me! : )

A Big Happy Birthday to my Grandson Ethan!

Happy Birthday Ethan! Nana loves you and I miss my little buddy lots and lots.

My baby turns Five tomorrow; he loves to see his picture on his Nana's blog. I will be swamped with things to do starting at 1:00 p.m. today and ending on Wednesday. I love the holiday's but they can keep me busy. I didn't want to forget to post a Birthday Blessing for my grandson so I thought I'd better do it a day early.

He is in Florida right now and won't be back until Christmas Eve. We won't be able to celebrate his Birthday until next week. His daddy has his laptop with him so hopefully he gets to see this tomorrow. I can't wait to see them all at Christmas!

I'd better run, worship team practice at 1:00 p.m. work at 3:00 p.m. I'll have enough time to get church clothes out for tomorrow and maybe a little nap before heading off to work again at 11:00 p.m.

Oh Holy Night by David Phelps

The flu bug has spread its ugly germ through our house the past week and a half.

I came down with it on Sunday. As we all know from having the flu, you really can't go far from home when this bug hits. I'll leave that alone!

In my down time I've been wrapping the rest of the Christmas gifts and listening to the Gaither Vocal Band Christmas DVDs.

One of my all time favorite Christmas Carols is "Oh Holy Night"

David Phelps and Josh Groban come in very close to being my favorite male singers.

I get chills when I hear David Phelps sing this song.

Have a blessed weekend!

I have to post one more post on Christmas morning. I told my daughter I would take a picture of the tree with all of the gifts under it before we open our them on Christmas morning.

BTW- My Sailor made it home safe and sound last night.

Why God made Mom's

Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in
the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?
1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?

Why did your mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in th e world. And my Mom eats a lot.

2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that .
2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

I would like you'll to meet our newest family Member

We have a new addition to our family!
Scroll down!

What did ya'lll think?

I'm a little to old to be having anymore children. My son, Aaron and daughter, Becca, are both way to young to be getting married and having children. My oldest son, Bret and his wife, Jess, are finished having children.
Blogging friends, everyone, I would like you'll to meet our newest Christmas member, Rudoff.

I got up this morning and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but this very lovely reindeer. My husband asked one of his co-workers to make it for me. How SWEEEEEEET! He thought it would go perfect in our Living room. OH, how right he was! I think he's getting in the Christmas spirit. Hee, Hee

BTW-Did ya'll notice I figured out how to put my kids names on the stockings? I had my niece and family over last night for dinner and hair cuts. I got glitter out for my five year old great niece to play with. I wrote her name with glue on a piece of paper and we put the glitter on. We walked into the living room and she asked me if I could wait until she came over again to put my kids names on our stockings. DUH, why didn't I think of that.

I also received another wonderful blessing today.

I cleaned an office building for a few months back in the summer months. One thing lead to another and I never got paid! I just wrote the money off in my head and thought I would try to be smarter about who I worked for in the future. Guess what was in the mail today? Yes, a check for almost a $1000.00. What better time of year to receive such a blessing.

Ho, Ho, Ho and a Merry, O, Christmas!

Last but not least;

It was my sisters 46th Birthday yesterday! "Happy Birthday Cinda" My sisters children asked us all to meet at a restaurant tonight for a surprise Birthday party for my sister. There were 40 of us altogether. It was my two brother and their families, my parents and family, my sisters children, and me and my boys. It was a lot of fun!

I love being with family!

The Christmas Cantata pictures and more Home Pictures It's Christmas time at Lori's Place.

The Cantata is over; The children did such a wonderful job. Here are some pictures I took at our dress rehearsal. Boaz is the boy standing to the left of the three girls in the center stage. He played Happy Christmas. I wish I could put the DVD of the play on this blog for you'll to see but due to copy right issues, I don't think it can be done.
Don't mind my mess all over the floor!

I received these roses and a gift card to Lonestar from the Jr. choir children and parents for my help with the Cantata.
Yesterday, I worked really hard and got our kitchen decorated for Christmas. This is my kitchen sink.
Our sliding glass doors is where I put I tape Christmas cards.
This is a little plan, I think it needs something.

I added a little touch to our living room walls.
The finished Christmas Tree.
The count down to Christmas!
Last but not least, this little thing was passed down from generation to generation. My grandma made one of these for all of us kids growing up. After I got married, I wanted my children to have one. My mom was kind enough to make one for our children. Boaz had suckers handing from it but they kept falling off. My grandma would tie hard candy to this; I loved butterscotch. Down below is what is written on it.

December first till Christmas is the longest time of year
seems as though it will never get here.
How many more days till Christmas its so mighty hard to count.
So this little candy ribbon will tell the exact amount
Untie a candy everynight when you finish your evening meal.
Start at the bottom of your ribbon only one then stop.
Now when you do this daily Christmas Eve will be here by the time you reach the top.

Every year at Christmas when I pull this out; I remember my Grandma and what Christmas is really all about. The love that she brought the closeness I always felt, is something I will never be able to write down on paper for all of you to know what is in my heart.

Once again, "Merry Christmas" to you all.

Baking Christmas cookies with my dear friend!

This post is dedicated to my "Best Friend" Jessica. My lovely Daughter-in-Law. She set up a special time for us to bake Christmas cookies today and tomorrow. She is busy raising three children, yet she cares enough about me to want to be with me for two day.

True friends are friends that are not embarrassed of you, true friends want to be around you. Jessica is this true friend to me. Thank you and I love you Jess and your wonderful family. "Which so happens to be my loving son and my three beautiful grandchildren. You are always there when I need you. You have been there when my Becca moved and Aaron went into the Navy. You were there to listen when I needed a friend! Thank you for always being there for me even through many tears that I have shed lately, even through some very hard times in my life.

As I sat and read God's Word this morning and went over everything God has given me, I think the best thing I have in life besides of course, my salvation, is my family and friends. Some friends have walked out of my life; I will miss those friends forever. Some are, I am sure here to stay. I think of the people I am around each day, people that bring joy to my life. I think of friends that have moved away that I am not in contact with anymore, friends that have touch a deep part of my soul, friends that come to mind often, that I miss. God puts people in our lives to love and cherish. I have so many wonderful friends that do so much for me. I also have friends that something I have said or done have put a wedge between us. I do have to say, in each situation I have been in, I have tried to make it right, by God graces He has chosen to take those people out of my life.

I thank God for all of the people He has brought into my life, the ones that have gone on and the one that are here to stay.

Living for the simple things in life: The gift of Love

I think I will do something special for a friend today.

Friends Forever

Friends are friends forever together 'till the end.

You promised me that you would always be my friend.

One day something changed I'm not sure what it was.

I lost you on that day and the reason was because

it was a late dark night and we had a stupid fight.

And for some reason, I don't know why, we couldn't make it right.

We went our separate ways.

This went on for days and days.

I made new friends and you made yours,

but that hole in my heart could not be filled for that hole was only yours.

Times got really tough,

my road of life was, oh, so rough.

I needed friends, not the kind you see from day to day,

but the kind that will always and forever stay.

Memories were all I had

and just the thought of them made me sad.

I cried every night wondering how to make it right.

I wish you could erase that day and that fight.

Would you please forgive me? I don't know where to start.

It hurts me so bad to have this hole in my heart!

I don't want our friendship to totally end.

I need you! You are my best friend!

So can we make a promise to stay together 'till the end?

A vow to each other to ALWAYS be BEST FRIENDS?

~ FRIENDS ~

I can't smile without You

By Barry Manalow

As we walk our path of life,
We meet people everyday.
Most are simply met by chance.
But, some are sent our way.

These become special friends
Whose bond we can't explain;
The ones who understand us
And share our joy and pain.

Their love contains no boundaries.
So, even we are apart.
Their presence enhances us
With a warmth felt in the heart.

This love becomes a passageway,
When even the miles disappear.
And so, these friends, God sends our way,
Remain forever near.

CHORUS:

You know I can't smile without you
I can't smile without you
I can't laugh and I can't sing
I'm finding it hard to do anything
You see I feel sad when you're sad
I feel glad when you're glad
If you only knew what I'm going through
I just can't smile without you

You came along just like a song
And brightened my day
Who would have believed that you were part of a dream
Now it all seems light years away

And now you know I can't smile without you
I can't smile without you
I can't laugh and I can't sing
I'm finding it hard to do anything
You see I feel sad when you're sad
I feel glad when you're glad
If you only knew what I'm going through
I just can't smile

Now some people say happiness takes so very long to find
Well, I'm finding it hard leaving your love behind me

And you see I can't smile without you
I can't smile without you
I can't laugh and I can't sing
I'm finding it hard to do anything
You see I feel glad when you're glad
I feel sad when you're sad
If you only knew what I'm going through
I just can't smile without you

Talking Parrot

submitted by:
Monica, Portland Oregon

A burglar was going through a condo, he came across a parrot, and the parrot said, "God is watching you." The burglar just ignored it.

The parrot said, more loudly this time, "God is watching you, and Jesus is coming!"

The burglar asked the parrot, "If you're so smart, then what's your name?"

The parrot replied, "Moses."

"What kind of moron names a parrot Moses?" laughed the burglar.

The parrot replied, "The same fool who named his two pit bulls God and Jesus."

An Arm and a Leg

submitted by:
Tommy - Grand Rapids, MI

The first man, Adam, was relaxing in the Garden of Eden when God said, "Adam, how would you like someone to prepare your meals, clean your house and wash your clothes, someone that loves and adores you and will obey your every wish?"

Adam said, "That sounds pretty good, but how much will it cost me?"

God replied, "An arm and a leg."

Adam thought about it for a little while, then asked, "Well, what can I get for just one rib?"

Collards is green,

and I'm so lucky
to have a sweet thang like you.

Yore hair is like cornsilk
a-flapping in the breeze.
Softer than Blue's
and without all them fleas.

You move like the bass,
which excite me in May.
You ain't got no scales
but I luv you anyway.

Yo're as satisfy'n as okry
jist a-fry'n in the pan.
Yo're as fragrant as "snuff"
right out of the can.

You have some'a yore teeth,
for which I am proud;
I hold my head high
when we're in a crowd.

On special occasions,
when you shave under yore arms,
well, I'm in hawg heaven,
and awed by yore charms.

Still them fellers at work,
they all want to know,
what I did to deserve
such a purdy, young doe.

Like a good roll of duct tape
yo're there fer yore man,
to patch up life's troubles
and fix what you can.

Yo're as cute as a junebug
a-buzzin' overhead.
You ain't mean like those far ants
I found in my bed.

Cut from the best cloth
like a plaid flannel shirt,
you spark up my life
more than a fresh load of dirt.

When you hold me real tight
like a padded gunrack,
my life is complete;
Ain't nuttin' I lack.

Yore complexion, it's perfection,
like the best vinyl sidin'.
despite all the years,
yore age, it keeps hidin'.

Some men, they buy chocolate
for Valentine's Day;
They git it at Wal-Mart,
it's romantic that way.

Some men git roses
on that special day
from the cooler at Kroger.
That's impressive," I say.

Some men buy fine diamonds
from a flea market booth.
"Diamonds are forever,"
they explain, suave and couth.

But for this man, honey,
these won't do.
Cause yor'e too special,
you sweet thang you.

I got you a gift,
without taste nor odor,
more useful than diamonds......
IT'S A NEW TROLL'N MOTOR!!

Once again! It's marriage MONDAY

A Christian Marriage

The Bible teaches us that God is the Creator of marriage. As the Designer of marriage, God can best teach us how a husband and wife should live together

Ephesians 5:22-25 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it.

I Corinthians 7:3-4 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.

God's plan for marriage is to provide companionship, to prevent sexual immorality, and to provide children with loving parents.

Marriage can provide a home where Christianity is practiced. In the Christian home God is considered in every decision. The husband, wife, and children are encouraged to live as Jesus wants us to live. The Christian home serves as an example to non-Christians who want the same kind of happiness they see in the home of Christians. If you want a better home, then learn to live as Jesus means for us to live.

If we are going to have a Christian marriage, I think the key word here is “CHRISTian”. The Bible tells the husband to love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it. (Eph. 5:25). The key here is to love her as Christ loved the church. This is the way Christian men should love their wives.

In the same way, you wives, need to be submissive to your own husbands, so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior 1 Peter 3:1-2

To keep our marriage strong we have to keep Christ in the center of it. We need to pray together, respect and honor one another, we need to be slow to speak and quick to listen, COMMUNICATION, we need to choose to love are mate each and every day.

When I think of my husband I think of this;

He works long hours, with little or no time for himself. He puts up with my mood swings even when I can hardly stand myself. He is full of energy, he has a great imagination, he is very intelligent, he’s understanding and very flexible. My husband is the leader in our home, he leads with love and kindness. He is my protector, supporter, provider.

1 Corinthians 11:3 “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God."

If we want a Christian marriage, Christ must be the center point in our lives!
Plus, lots of hugs and kisses doesn't hurt! : )

I hopped over to e-Mom's blog and found a great post on marriage. Maybe ya'll could hop over and take a look! Just click on the button, and it will send you over.

Almost Finished!

As promised! The F.A.I.T.H boxes I have been working on all week. I finally finished my project tonight at church. I'll put bows on top of the boxes the day of the Cananta and that should complete my projects for this year. Things are coming together!! Just one more week!

Faith! For all I trust Him. Faith! For all I trust Him. For all I need the Father will provide. Faith! For all I trust Him. Faith! For all I trust Him. That’s the way my faith can be described.

What was suppose to be a very slow week for me, turned out to be pretty busy after all. I've been working pretty hard at trying to pull the rest of the stuff together for the Jr. Choir Christmas Cantata. I had the Faith letters to do, (Meaning, I cut out letters to spell the word FAITH and For all I trust Him, I'll take a picture tomorrow after I get the letter glued onto the gift boxes) and typed in all the information for the programs. I am almost done! I have some last minute shopping to do for it but that won't take me long.

A friend of mine called me yesterday and said that he and his wife (THANK YOU JOE AND JEN)were going to donate all the ornaments we need for our Christmas tree, for the Cantata. The main prop is a Christmas Tree! The cantata is called "The Christmas Family Tree". We needed a lot of decorations because the Christmas cousins will be decorating the tree throughout the play. My friend Barb called last night and said that she had the archway all put together for us and it is waiting in a back room for me to get when I get to church. (THANK YOU BARB) (The archway is going over a bench for a park like setting, I'll take pictures on Sunday)I love the family of God! Last but not least, a "Very Big Thank You" goes out to my husband for sending me the files for the program and for being very patient with me lately.

Two more weeks and it will all be over!

Some folks might not understand how rewarding it is to work with these young children. All the work I put in is always paid back in hugs from those little ones. One of the young girls asked me if I would help her with her solo on Sunday. This is all very rewarding to me, I love music and I also love working with the children.

I am soooo looking forward to it coming together this week. We are going to have a 3 hour practice right after church on Sunday. We will feed the children pizza and hopefully be able to go over the play 3 times. Next Saturday, we will have a four hour practice with the last hour being the dress rehearsal. We are inviting nursery workers, grandparents, anyone that can't make it on Sunday morning.

I got sick on Wednesday morning! I've been pretty much fighting something all week. I still have a throat thing going on and my body seems to hurt everywhere.
Hopefully, I am better by Sunday!

I don't want to forget to tell you about this very sweet award I received from
crystal

I have had to slow down my blog visits so I could get everything done for the Cantata! You'll are still very faithful friends to me.

Thank you Crystal, you are so sweet!

This is the program I have been working on for the past two days!

Happy Sunday to ya'll!

My Thanksgiving was great! I wish, I would have captured a few pictures, but I left my camera in the car, I was to cold to run out and get it. I'm going to ask my sister-in-law if I can get a few pictures from her. It was wonderful to have our whole family together, (Minus, Becca and Aaron) what a blessing to see so many happy faces. I think my brother said he counted 60 people at his home for Thanksgiving. I have a very big family. WE have FIVE new babies in the family this year!

My fondest Thanksgiving day memory;

As a little girl growing up, I would wake up early in the morning to watch the Thanksgiving day parade. I can still smell the Turkey cooking, and hear my dad and my mom working together in the kitchen, to prepare for our meal. I would watch the parade with an eager, joyful heart, in anticipation of Santa coming down the street, on one of the floats. (I'm a little embarrassed to admit this but I believed in Santa until I was 13) Santa would get out of his float to meet the Mayor of Detroit, to receive the key to the city. Before, he received the key, he would read off some of the names of the good boys and girls. Now that I am all grown up, (LOL!!) I know that Lori was just a common name but he would read my name and tears would come to my eyes. (Oh goodness) The memories still make me smile! (Thank you MOM for creating such wonderful memories)

This year, when I walked in the door from my very long Motor route. (10:30 p.m. until 10:00 a.m.) What do you think was on our TV? Yes, my husband had hooked up the Cable and he had the Thanksgiving Day parade on for me.(and the kids, I'm sure) I made it just in time to see Santa coming down the street. We don't do Santa at our house but we still put most of the gifts out on Christmas eve, I have always done stockings for our children. I put all the things out after the kids go to bed, my children look forward to this each year. When I saw Santa on the TV I waved and waved, I yelled out! "HELLO SANTA" just like I did when I was a little girl. Yes, that feeling of joy came rushing back over me, it was, as if I were 10 again. (My family just puts up with my immaturity) Such great memories!!!

Worship today was "WONDERFUL" Pastor Brian preached out of John and Pastor Rowe did our communion service. Our Worship band members did a great job on the songs. Wow, was it good. On my Motor Route this morning, I tried to only concentrate on preparing my heart to lead God's people in worship today. I played our Wednesday evening practice CD over and over. I wanted to truly be able to Worship the Lord with all my heart, holding nothing back. I can truly say I had the feeling this morning, like I had come home! Home to friends who all have the same goal in mind, to Glorify our Lord and Savior. Our Worship leader was back with us today! It felt like my whole family was together again! My family in the Lord, (They are so dear to me) all striving for the same goal, to bring Glory to our ONE and only Savior, Jesus Christ.
May we give Him all the praise He deserves! YOUR AWESOME LORD!

Today, I have to head off to a Birthday party for one of my Great nieces, she turns one today. (It is 5:43 p.m. and I just woke up, that means, I missed the party)

As I slept today, I received many phone calls! One was from my daughter-in-law. I just called her back and she is all ready for us to sit down and go over our Christmas list together. She knew I was supposed to go to the party today, so she was making fun a bit. It seems like every time I sit down and close my eyes these days, I go to sleep. I think I am just like a little child! I go, ando go until my body finally tells me, YOU ARE DONE! I do admit, I might be a little carried away with the exercise program that I am on. Instead of sleeping last night, I worked out for a hour and then took my shower and got ready for work. My daughter-in-law thinks I need to be committed! : ) I sure am glad she loves me for who, I am, flaws and all! I think I make her laugh!

I sure do pray all of you, had a great Thanksgiving! I pray you always remember to count your blessings.

I made it through the Weekend and Lived!

I made it through the weekend and survived! Most people find the weekend a relaxing time! My weekends are my busy time! I feel as if I were beaten this morning! Sometimes, I forget just how “really old” I am.

Like I wrote in my earlier post; Friday evening I helped make up bags for the Homeless ministry. Saturday, was very busy as well! Saturday morning my husband and I went out shopping our Thanksgiving meal. My husband has to work in the afternoon so we are just going to have a light lunch together and then I will be heading out to my brother's house for our Annual Thanksgiving Day feast. My brother's house will be filled with many family members and friends.

I always make and take the deserts! I did lose my head and asked my sister-in-law what I could bring and my brother half jokingly said "CHEESE CAKE". It jogged my memory that I take the deserts. (I'm losing it) For the last, I don't know how many years, I have taken the deserts. I can’t believe I forget this year. (I don't like growing old) or to much on my plate right now. Two weeks and things should slow down a bit.

The following items are what I will be taking to my brother's house:

All of my nieces and Nephews look forward to my Cheese Cake; so that is on the top of the list.

Choc. Chunk cookies
Sugar cookies
Macadamia nut cookies
Pumpkin Pie
2 other kind of pies but for the life of me, right this minute, I can't remember what I bought? I think it was Choc and Vanilla. This is for my Step-Dad!

After we returned from shopping; my husband had to head off to work and I headed off to help with the scene and last minute stuff, for the Cantata. We had practice for the Cantata at 5:00 p.m. so at 4:15 p.m. I had to head to my Son and Daughter-in-laws to pick up Boaz. After Choir practice I still had to clean the church. I have worked as a Janitor for our church for the last 2 years. I finally got home around 10:30 p.m. Bo and my grandson Josh work for me on Saturday's; let me say this really helps. I do have to say those two little fella’s work well together.

I talked to Aaron when I got home! He called right when I walked in the door! Our conversation was really cute. I was the sounding block for one of his roommates. He is going to ask his girlfriend to marry him. He wanted to know my option on which way he could ask her.

First scenario: He is going to buy a dozen roses and place them at the door to her house. He will ring the door bell and run around and go in the back door. When she bends down to pick up the roses he will be behind her on one knee with the ring. I thought this was so romantic!

Second scenario: He told her he was going to get her a bunch of appliances for Christmas. He was going to pack the ring in a blender box, when she opens this there will be another box. ect. You get the picture.

I told him I liked number one more! Every woman wants to be romanced! It is just in our nature. The second scenario is cute but not really romantic, I don't think.

Another one of the his roommates asked me this question; Would I write to a Sailor that didn't get any mail? I told him, of course I would, in a heart beat. Aaron took care of the mail when he was a recruit. He said, there were guys that didn't get one letter the whole while that they were in Basic training. (How very sad) I did tell them that maybe people in these boy's families, don't like to write letters.

ANNNNYWAY, I finally went to sleep at 11:30 p.m. and got up at 12:30 a.m. to go to work. Yes, I know I only got one hour of sleep. My body really feels it this morning.

I got home from work about 7:30 a.m. and laid down for an hour and a half before heading to church. Worship was great! And Pastor Brian preached a most excellent sermon. I helped with our Homeless ministry and I finally got home around 3:00 p.m.

let’s just say I was wasted for the rest of the night. When I finally did have enough energy to move it was nine O'clock. The boy's and I spent the next hour cleaning our house before dad got home from work. It was then bedtime!

My husband got home around 10:30 p.m. and told us there had been a prison break last night. The prison is only minutes away from our house. There were cops and Helicopter’s flying over for hours. I am a big chicken so this had me really scared. If I tell you what happen the week before, you will then understand my fear. That will be another post.

I have to run and get my babies up for school and get this old body on the treadmill for my morning workout!

These are the bags we made Friday evening. I am not a very crafty person but I finally figured out how to do the feathers. Lets just say, the other leader's and I laughed a lot at ourselves making these bags with the girls.

Do you have a Controlling Spirit

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 1 John 2:16 NASB

13You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. 14The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." 15If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. 16So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. Galatians 5:13-18 NIV

The problem of the controlling spirit is something that I’ve frequently recognized in myself. When someone “has a controlling spirit,” it doesn’t necessarily mean that they have a demon who is instigating the control. It can simply mean that they are yielding to their own human desire to be in control. I think this might be me!

The controlling spirit likely stems my tendency toward “pride of life” that John mentioned in 1 John 2:16, because it involves trying to get others to do my will. It doesn’t have to be limited to just people. In my pride, I may even try to get God to do my will through selfish or controlling prayers.

The controlling spirit typically uses manipulation to accomplish its purposes.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines manipulation as: “to control or play upon by artful, unfair, or insidious means especially to one's own advantage; to change by artful or unfair means so as to serve one's purpose.” I can see by this definition, manipulation is self-centered and has nothing to do with love.

There are many examples in the Bible of people who tried to manipulate or control others. Here are a few:

Potiphar’s wife trying to get Joseph to sleep with her (Genesis 39:6-13)

Delilah trying to get Sampson to reveal the secret of his strength (Judges 16:5-21)

Ahab sulking about a vineyard in hopes that his wife Jezebel would get it for him (1 Kings 21:1-15)

Martha appealing to Jesus to make Mary help her prepare a meal (Luke 10:38-42)

Elymas the sorcerer trying to turn the proconsul away from Christianity (Acts 13:6-12)

God wants me to be under the control of only one spirit, i.e. the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:12-16, Galatians 5:22-25). The Holy Spirit has set us free to live for righteousness and no longer be under sin’s rule.

If we’ve been guilty of trying to control others or yielding to someone with a controlling spirit, we’ll need to repent in either case and reaffirm our allegiance to God by yielding to the Holy Spirit.

When we manipulate others, how does that affect our walk with Christ? (Galatians 5:13-14, 16-18)

Why might a controlling spirit cause the presence or anointing of God to lift away? (James 4:6-7)

Prayer:

“Father in Heaven, I repent from any attempts I’ve made to control or manipulate others (specify). I repent from yielding to pride and exerting my will over others. I repent from making any manipulative prayers. I also repent for any times that I have yielded to a controlling spirit and resisted the Holy Spirit (specify). Please forgive me and cleanse me from my sin by the blood of Jesus. I reaffirm that you are my Lord and Savior today. I am sensitive and responsive to the Holy Spirit’s leadership. I yield my will to your will, Father. Please fill me with your love for people and help me discern any controlling spirits that may be at work in my daily circumstances. Thank you, Father! I praise you now and forever. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

It's a Girl

I can't believe that I am a "Great Aunt" for the 4th time. My brother called me this morning at 7:00 and told me my oldest niece had a baby girl at 5:00 a.m. this morning. He said, the baby's heart rate went down and they had to do an emergency C-Section. Mama and baby are doing fine now. Olivia Ranee was 7 lbs.

Please pray for this new Mama and Daddy.

I had a great time last night, decorating bags for the Homeless! My Awana group made 24 bags to pass out on Sunday. I'll take a pictures when I get to church this afternoon. Sunday after church we are going to serve the Homeless people a Thanksgiving Dinner, with all the fixings. The bags we made had Toiletry items, goodies, Hats, gloves, some had scarfs inside.

I'd better run, at 2:00 p.m. The Jr. choir Leaders are getting together to finish up the scene. Cantata practice is at 5:00 6:30 p.m. and I have to clean the church after we are done. I always come home tired but serving is something I really love to do.

Family for the Holiday's

Do you know what I have seen through the acts of both of my children! Love is a sacrifice, a choice someone makes for another. I never asked my daughter or my son to come see me for the holiday's. I told them if they couldn't it would be o.k. I knew that both of them wanted to be home more then anything else in the world. I talked to both Aaron and Rebecca yesterday. they both said the same thing to me. They couldn't wait to "COME HOME". This might not be their home any more, but in there hearts this is home and always will be. My children know how much I love them and how much I am willing to and have sacrificed for them over the years. Even though some might see me in a different light! I try to always sacrifce for the people that I love. My children are really showing me how much love was in our house, just by the fact that they can't wait to come home for Christmas.

God shows us this example so clear in the scriptures.

God is love!

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

I am going to be swamped for the rest of the weekend. To many things on my plate to write them all down. I'll write all about it next week

I pray you'll have a great weekend!

Hugs to all of you!

These are the people my daughter works with. (Pretty scary) They were the Willy Wonka Choc. Factory for Halloween. My daughter is the 4th one in from the right.
This is what Becca wrote in the subjest field "My Ugly Helpdesk Photo..." I think it is a nice picture.

My daughter Becca is working as a help desk Operator right now. This is a picture the company took of her. She will work this job and cut hair part-time, after she receives her Texas Beauty licence.

I found out that Becca will be coming home for the holiday's. It won't be on Christmas but she will be here for New Year's Eve. Aaron and Becca will be able to spend a few days together before they return (One to Texas one to Chicago) January 3rd, to their own homes. I don't believe, that I will see Aaron for at least a year after he goes back. After his A school is finished he will be on a ship for 6 to 9 months. That is the reason Becca really wanted to try to get to Michigan for the holiday's if she could.

I feel almost like singing! Well, my children would tell you that I sing, way to much, as it was. When I dropped John and Jimmy off at school this morning they asked me to please keep it down until I pulled out of the parking lot. Hee, Hee

So I thought I'd call my daughter and sing "It's beginning to look a lot likes Christmas" when she got to work this morning. I thought I'd try to start her day off laughing, and it worked! Yeaaaaa!!

I can't believe that both of my children are coming home for the Holiday's. God has been so very good to this old mom.

I know Your watching over me!

Dear Lord ...
I know you're watching over me
And I'm feeling truly blessed
For no matter what I pray for
You always know what's best!

I have this circle of blogging friends,
Who mean the world to me;
Some days I "post" and "post,"
At other times, I let them be.

I am so blessed to have these friends,
With whom I've grown so close;
So this little poem I dedicate to them,
Because to me they are the "Most"!

When I see each comment,
And view the message they've sent;

I know they've thought of me that day,
And "well wishes" were their intent.

So to you, my friends, I would like to say,
Thank you for being a part;
Of all my daily contacts,
This comes right from my heart.

God bless you is my prayer today,
I'm honored to call you "friend";
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until we write again.
