Still Waiting

Thought each of you would like to know that Lori is still waiting to hear from AJ.
Please continue to Pray for her, this is a time when we have to let go, but it hurts to let our precious children out of the nest and on their own. To know we are not needed as much, and if we are, we don't know it because our children are worried someone might just think they are Mommy's babies. (smile) (as we did)
The reason she has not heard from him... Well the day he left there were storms everywhere, so flight did not leave, then a continuation of storms for several days left him grounded.
Lori was actually able to see him, take him to dinner and bring him home for a few hours. Making it harder to let go. It has been nice weather for at least one day so now it is the wait to see if he is able to fly out or if he has arrived at his destination.
Plus sweet daughter came home for a week and lori had to let her go again.
It is so hard on family, it is a good thing for children to grow up, yet it is also so hard to step aside.
I shared with her that even though she is grown, has children, a husband I still feel as though she is my baby. Our children are always loved deep in our hearts.
As God loves us we love them.
He Loves us, corrects us, and never lets us go beyond where he wants us to be. Even though we grow up, at least we think we do. We never grow up enough to be without our Heavenly Father. How much it must have hurt Him to watch His only son JESUS be the penalty for our sins. Yet with so much Love He let go for only seconds, We know the verse My God, My God why has though forsaken me? Not forsaken yet the sin on Jesus was far more than God could look at. He did all that for His Love for us.
I see the picture as I look at a Parent's love. As God placed that in our hearts His LOVE.

I will let you know or Prayerfully Lori will hear soon and let us know where our AJ is. Please continue to Pray for AJ as his new life is beginning.

Prayer Please for someone very special

Just a note to ask for Prayer for Lori as she will miss AJ so much, as we all will. He will be serving our country and that means all of us.
He is a Blessing to his family, and to his Grandma and Grandpa who will also miss him very very much.
I can't say enough of how very proud we are of him and I know how much Lori looks at him with nothing but pride and Thankfulness to our Lord for how much he blesses her with all her children but at the moment AJ.

Please say a Prayer for Lori and for AJ as he begins his new life.

L's MaMa and AJ's Grandma who will miss him too!

Do You Remember When?

When a quarter was a decent allowance?

Nobody owned a purebred dog?

All the girls had ugly gym uniforms?

It took five minutes for the TV warm up?

Nearly everyone's Mom was at home when the kids got home from school?

You'd reach into a muddy gutter for a penny?

Your Mom wore nylons that came in two pieces?

All your male teachers wore neckties and female teachers had their hair done every day and wore high heels?

You got your windshield cleaned, oil checked, and gas pumped, without asking, all for free, every time?

And you didn't pay for air? And, you got trading stamps to boot?

Laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes or towels hidden inside the box?

It was considered a great privilege to be taken out to dinner at a real restaurant with your parents?

They threatened to keep kids back a grade if they failed. . . and they did?

When a 57 Chevy was everyone's dream car...to cruise,
peel out, lay rubber or watch submarine races, and people went steady?

No one ever asked where the car keys were
because they were always in the car,
in the ignition, and the doors were never locked?

Lying on your back in the grass with your friends
and saying things like, "That cloud looks like a "
and playing baseball with no adults to help kids with the rules of the game?

Stuff from the store came without safety caps and hermetic seals because no one had yet tried to poison a perfect stranger?

And with all our progress, don't you just wish, just once, you could slip back in time and savor the slower pace, and share it with the children of today?

When being sent to the principal's office was nothing
compared to the fate that awaited the student at home?

Basically we were in fear for our lives, but it wasn't because of drive-by shootings, drugs, gangs, etc. Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger threat! But we survived because their love was greater than the threat.

Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys, Laurel and Hardy,

Howdy Dowdy and the Peanut Gallery,

the Lone Ranger, The Shadow Knows,

Nellie Bell, Roy and Dale, Trigger and Buttermilk.

As well as summers filled with bike rides, baseball games, Hula Hoops, bowling and visits to the pool, and eating Kool-Aid powder with sugar.

Didn't that feel good, just to go back and say, "Yeah, I remember that"?

I am sharing this with you today because it ended with a double dog dare to pass it on. To remember what a double dog dare is, read on. And remember that the perfect age is somewhere between old enough to know better and too young to care.

How many of these do you remember?

Candy cigarettes

Wax Coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water inside

Soda pop machines that dispensed glass bottles

Coffee shops with tableside jukeboxes

Blackjack, Clove and Teaberry chewing gum

Home milk delivery in glass bottles with cardboard stoppers

Newsreels before the movie

P.F. Fliers

Telephone numbers with a word prefix...(Raymond 4-601). Party lines

Peashooters

Hi-Fi's

45 RPM records

78 RPM records!

Green Stamps

Metal ice cubes trays with levers

Mimeograph paper

Beanie and Cecil

Roller-skate keys

Cork pop guns

Drive ins

Studebakers

Washtub wringers

The Fuller Brush Man

Reel-To-Reel tape recorders

Tinkertoys

Erector Sets

The FortApache Play Set

Lincoln Logs

15 cent McDonald hamburgers

5 cent packs of baseball cards - with that awful pink slab of bubble gum

Penny candy

25 cent a gallon gasoline

Jiffy Pop popcorn

Do you remember a time when...

Decisions were made by going "eeny-meeny-miney-moe"?

Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, "Do Over!"?

"Race issue" meant arguing about who ran the fastest?

Catching the fireflies could happily occupy an entire evening?

It wasn't odd to have two or three "Best Friends"?

The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was "cooties"?

Having a weapon in school meant being caught with a slingshot?

Saturday morning cartoons weren't 30-minute commercials for action figures?

"Oly-oly-oxen-free" made perfect sense?

Spinning around, getting dizzy, and falling down was cause for giggles?

The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team?

War was a card game?

Baseball cards in the spokes transformed any bike into a motorcycle?

Taking drugs meant orange-flavored chewable aspirin?

Water balloons were the ultimate weapon?

If you can remember most or all of these, then you have lived!!!!!!!

They Are on Their Own

The House Finch

As you most likely know I have been enjoying the birds in the nest. Yesterday I was able to capture another picture and today they flew away.

Reminds me of parents when we teach our children as much as we can about life and God, letting them make their own decision to accept Jesus into their hearts.
Then it is time to let them out on their own. With many Prayers for them to keep all the good things that we have tried to instill into our children throughout their growing years.

As we have had the honor to do even with all our mistakes we know that we tried to
TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO AND WHEN HE IS OLD HE WILL NOT DEPART FROM IT. Proverbs

Looks like Mother bird did the same as God intended.

WE HAD SO MUCH FUN

It was our turn to spend some time with AJ. And we had so much fun. We like to fish so we had the whole weekend to fish with AJ.

I Prayed for sunshine,at least no rain, even though the forecast called for rain. I prayed AJ would catch a nice fish too. We also saw the game warden was out and about. No problem we had everything under control. Right!

God had everything under control, we had NO RAIN, absolutely beautiful weather, warm sunny sky's. That big fish well it never happened until after the game warden stopped and ask for all our into. AJ told him the truth about his age. Yikes wrong... we were wrong about the age he had to be for a fishing license. Yet God changed the heart of the warden and he let it go since we really were clueless as to the actual age and of course this young man is going to serve our Country.

Well still no big fish, dark out and ready to go in, leaving the next morning and low and behold the big one hit. YES! he got it, that was awesome and we were all Thanking God.

Remember The Truth will set you FREE! Our little daughter quoted the scripture after AJ told this man the Truth. Awesome.

We not only caught fish but had a bonfire, went swimming in the Lake. That was a new one for me since I have not been in the Lake to swim in a long time. Well actually I had a life jacket on to avoid the seaweed to get to the deeper part, plus I am not the best swimmer in the world. Actually doggie paddle would be what you call it.

I had to Post and let all of you know How Awesome our God is, I know sometimes we get sidetracked and forget to give Praise....Today is Praise to our Lord and Savior for his many Blessings and Thanking Him for allowing us the opportunity to spend some good quality time with our grandson.

Our Lori is back!

Hi
Everyone

Our Lori is back and she had a wonderful time as I will let her share when she has a few minutes.
She does need Prayer she has a virus and is not feeling her best.
Of course the Picture is my sweet daughter Lori when she was 18 months old.
Yes Jenna does look like you, I noticed it when I posted the picture.
We sometimes give Lori's daughter-n-law a rough time because we say Jenna looks like Us!
She does take after her Mommy too. ( She does look like us though) HeHe
We have been blessed by our daughter-in-law (grand-daughter-in-law) she is a sweetheart too.

Thank You for helping me to feel more comfortable blogging, I have not had much time for my funnies. My work has been a little hectic, that is good though. Plus Vacation Bible School and taking our little daughter has made it a busy week, that too is okay. But as Lori says sometimes it is hard to blog.

Hopefully we will hear from our missing blogger very soon.

Hope all is well with each of you!

Lori's MaMa Here

Hopefully this picture will post because I would like you to tell me since you have seen many pictures (without looking at them) who is this little one?

I actually had the wonderful opprotunity to hear from our Lori. She is having fun with her family. I am sure she misses all of us. HeHe
I have been thinking about Lori and I as she was growing up and I had to laugh about this one. We used to go everywhere together. It was fun and I enjoyed it so much. She loved to drive so she always did.
We went shopping at K-mart one very warm summer day. When we finished we went to the car to get in Woops No keys, doors locked. Well the keys were actually in the car. Now what??? Standing out in the heat.
WE were very fortunate to have a nice employee come out and he had something that actually opened the lock. Yippee.
Of course I was not the happiest with my daughter. Then as I remembered this I e-mailed her and said remember when WE left the keys in your car??
I now realize she is so much like me that I had to take on the responsibility of blaming myself since I too could have noticed the keys.
Sorry Lori MaMa admits now you took after me.........HeHe.
