I was locked out of my Truck in the middle of the Night

I can laugh about my weekend now, but it wasn't so funny early Sunday morning.

Friday's are always busy ones for me. I worked all three jobs; I finally got home around 8:00 p.m. I took Thursday and Saturday off from my Janitors job so could go to a concert. Thursday my daughter and her friend worked for me. I just needed some time to sleep and get back on my feet from being sick. Friday evening, after my other jobs; I went to my third job just to make sure everything was in order for my daughter-in-law to just go in and do a once through before Sunday morning Worship.

Saturday evening my husband and I went to a Michael Card concert. I love this mans style of Worship. His concerts are just for Worshipping the Lord. We had dinner with Michael before the concert and spent two hours enjoying his preaching and singing to the Lord.

I have already posted several times about my Ann Arbor News motor route so I won't go into details, but something unbelievable happened to me early Sunday morning. I went to get my outsides of the Newspaper at 2:30 a.m. I went to the storage unit where they store the insides to the paper on Friday's. I went to the concert so I thought I would sleep in until 2:00 a.m. instead of getting up at 12:30 a.m. and only getting two hours of sleep. I got my papers, which happens to be over 700 hundred papers. My little ranger is always packed full. A lot of Sunday mornings, I will deliver some of my insides around 12:30 a.m. so my truck isn't so packed, due to the going to the concert I didn't do that this week. Anyway, I loaded my truck and shut the passenger door and one of my bundles fell of the top of the stack and locked my doors. The auto lock is right on the door? I was stuck in a storage unit with my truck running and my doors locked until someone came so I could use their phone. It seemed like hours before my husband came with my key to unlock my door. I couldn't get anyone at home so I had to call my wonderful daughter-in-law to go to my house to wake someone up. An hour and a half later, after I felt like I was going to freeze to death, I was back on the road.

I can laugh about it right now, but I promise I was not laughing at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, while I was locked in a storage unit with my cell-phone not working with no way to get out of the storage unit. The key pad is on the outside of the fence. I was going to try and climb the fence but it had barbed wire on it and I thought I would get a good zap. I finally got started delivering my papers around 5:00 a.m. I finished at 10:00 a.m. Our church service starts at 10:00 a.m. so I missed going to church yesterday.

My husband and I had a very good laugh about it yesterday afternoon. He said, "I looked so funny behind those bars". He thought maybe I was trying to see how my nephew felt in Jail. I have to admit, I thought about Jeremy when I couldn't get out of the gate to make a phone call. It reminded me to write him more and pray for him daily. He will get out of boot camp/Jail December 19th, 2006.

Sunday afternoon I took my "little Bo' to get helles (shoes with wheels) everyone in the "ENTIRE SCHOOL" has them, you must know. He was the only 9 year old with regular shoes. (I highly doubt that) I made him pay half so he would take care of the shoes. He works with me at my Janitors job on Saturday's he makes a bit of money. He just doesn't like to spend any of it. They are a bit more expensive than just regular tennis shoes.

We took AJ to his wrestling practice after that, it was an over all good evening.

I am looking forward to a great week

I saw Michael Card probably about 13 years ago, it was awesome. Glad you were able to get someone to come and help you getting your keys out!

Connie,

The concert was great! I do praise the Lord for a wonderful understanding husband. I did feel badly about getting him and my daughter-in-law up in the middle of the night.

That is something, that one of your newspaper bundles would fall and lock you out, that is scary. I am so glad everything worked out okay and your hubby was able to come to your rescue! :) It is so fun to hear what's in with the kids and their styles! Thanks for sharing. :)

That must have been not good. Especially there in that storage facility.
Were your customers all understanding about their late papers?
Oh yes, I have locked my car with it running and couldn't get anybody. Once a locksmith opened for me, another time I finally got the window down enough for a coat hanger.

Pamela,

My husband told me when he first bought me the truck and I locked myself out because they have the auto-lock right where your arms hits that I should get a spare key to place somewhere outside of my truck. I didn't listen to him. I thought if I were careful enough this wouldn't happen again. He was right and I was wrong.

Jim,

I was really worried about my customers having late papers. People like their papers by 8:00 a.m.
I got one complaint, I didn't think that was bad.

starry nights,

I just couldn't believe that they don't have away out from the inside. I have never thought about it until I got locked in.

TamWill,

Between my husband and myself, we have had a paper route for 18 years. We have had many story, but nothing like this.

mrsnesbittherself,

After I thought about it, it was pretty funny.

Bo is 9 years old. He is doing really good. We had to get ready for his fieldtrip today but maybe tomorrow I can show him your blog.

jel,

I just have to do something about those locks.

dot,

I really was not afraid at all. I knew there was nothing in the world I could do. I had to have faith that someone would come and bring me the key to my truck.

e-Mom,

I don't always have a positive attitude but I am working on it. I am sure I'll be working on it until I die. : )

It's interesting to see just how permeant memory has become in our every day lives. It seems like everytime I turn my head, I see something with a card slot or USB port, haha. I guess it makes sense though, considering how much more afforable memory has become as of late...

Ahhh... I shouldn't be complaining. I can't make it through a single day without my R4 / R4i!
