It turned out to be a good Day!

My breakfast with my dad and step-mom went well. We sat at the restaurant for 2 1/2 hours talking. We talked a lot about my growing up years. My dad wanted to know just how much I remembered about my childhood before he moved out.

My parents separated when I was 6 years old. I would go see my dad every other weekend. When I was 13 years old, my parents divorced and my dad moved to Texas. I have seen him a little over a hand full of times since than. He asked a lot of questions about my brother. I wanted him to understand him. My brother was 4 years old when my dad moved out. When we would come back from seeing my dad, my brother would cry so very hard. It still brings tears to my eyes all these years latter. My brother never had the father role model. There was no one to play ball with him or go fishing. No one to just do the things dads and sons would do together. I tried to always protect my brother from harm. I still get broken hearted when something goes wrong in his family or with him. I asked my dad to please give him extra attention. I told him I was at the point in my life I don't need the attention, but my brother does. I think I got my dad to understand. Divorce is so very hard on the children. I don't want to make excuses for my brother; we all have to make a choice how we are going to live. My brother is a successful business man, but I can still see and hear the affects of the divorce.

I finished all the school shopping for my boy’s tonight, except for school supplies. We have open houses on Monday so we will find out what they need.

Shopping ended up being so much fun. I told the kids we were going to split up. 2 boys would go with dad and 2 boys would go with me. My twelve year old boy (one of the twins) asked me if I was kidding. He said "Does dad really know how to pick out school close"? My husband was right in the front seat, but it was as if he wasn't with us. I informed him that dad was a good dresser and he would be able to pick out some good clothes, John looked at me and asked if he could please go with me. It was pretty funny! His dad said we would all shop together!

The exciting thing is I am done!
Clap hands, jump up and down, and do a little cart wheel.

Hi, Lori, and thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog. Drop by anytime. ;D

I make a corn casserole recipe that is very similar to yours. I haven't made it in a good while, I think it's time to make up a batch.

Take care and have a great weekend! :-)

Lori I can tell you care very much about your brother and you are a good big sister. I do hope your dad understands what you were trying to tell him. Families are hard sometimes, when there is a divorce everyone gets confused about where they fit in.

That story about your brother just breaks my heart! When I watch my husband play with our son I understand how important that father/son role is!!! (important for a daughter too, of course)

I hope they can reconnect after all these years!

I am sorry to hear about you wife's stepfather and mother divorce. I am sure it is not easy on your wife. Thank you for your nice comment. It is an honor to be a parent. God has given us these precious little gifts to parent; we just need to do our best to bring them up properly.

Karmyn R,
I am so glad you have a wonderful husband that loves his son. I do believe boys need a father/father figure in their lives. Thank you for your comment.

Jerry,

I am so sorry to hear about your pain. I would love to hear your story sometime. I bet it was very hard to meet someone after 29 years. How nice that your daughter wanted to meet you.
