Footprints in the Sand

Thanks Angel girl for sending this to me, I was a bit down this morning on my route. This has lifted my spirits! I am a very blessed woman but there are moments, when I am thankful that people remind me, that even when I am going through trials in my life, The Lord is always with me. Carrying me or walking beside me.

To be honest, I bought the Josh Groban Christmas CD "Noel" by Josh Groban and was listening and singing to it this morning on my route and I was thinking how different Christmas this year is going to be. My daughter lives in Texas now and my son is in the Navy. It was so upsetting! I love Christmas morning, seeing my children open their gifts. The sweet sound of laughter and excitement. It was not only from my younger children but more, I have to say from Becca and Aaron. I know in my heart, that all of this is a good things but I am only human. I have been a mom for the last 29 1/2 years.

I guess, I said all that to say, I received "Footprints in the Sand" today in an email. I have seen this many times before but today it really reminded me how lucky I am. The Lord is with me even when I am having a rough day.

by Mary Stevenson

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was
walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the
sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he
noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one
belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When
the last scene of his life flashed before him, he
looked back at the footprints in the sand. He
noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed
that it happened at the very lowest and saddest
times in his life. This really bothered him and he
questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, You said that
once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all
the way. But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life, there is only one set
of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed
you most you would leave me." The Lord replied,
"My son, My precious child, I love you and I would
never leave you. During your times of trial and
suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it
was then that I Carried You."

  1. I know what you mean about Christmas being different when all your kids aren't there. Last year was the first time my Aaron wasn't with us on Christmas day. It was hard, really hard, but we did get to be together on a different day during the season.

  2. Thank you Kathy! I am sure my first year will be the hardest. I guess, I'll get use to it after a while.

I feel so blessed in so many ways, it almost seems like I shouldn't be upset about it. Does that makes sense to you?
