The LaundraMat

My dryer is not working so it is off to the LaundraMat for me this morning. My daughter will only dry her clothes on air dry and for some reason my dryer did not like that. The week before she left she did all of her laundry and it is now not drying. I called the repair man yesterday, I just have to wait until they get out here to get it fixed.

I did get more spring cleaning done last night. My next stop was my boy's room; I worked on it until 9:30 p.m. last night so I could finish it.

Funny little story:

On my route yesterday, I was trying to come up with an idea as to how I could get my three younger boy's to throw their dirty clothes downstairs in the laundry area and keep their room clean. I don't want to yell at them or pull teeth to get them to keep their room clean. I think I came up with the perfect solution.

We were sitting around the kitchen table eating a wonderful spaghetti dinner my husband cooked for us last night.. I went around the table asking each boy about their day. I then told them I was going to clean their room and make it spotless. I told them all they had to do was keep it clean. (I’ve told them this before) They seemed very excited that I was going to clean their room. I explained that all I expected of them, was keep it clean; which included throwing their clothes downstairs and making sure the room stayed tidy. (They only sleep in their room because we have a game room for the boy's in the basement) They seemed to go along with everything I said until I added, their best friends could not come over and spend the night nor could they go to their best friend’s house if they did not keep their room clean. (I let their friends come over at least once a month) My twins looked at each other out of the corner of their eye with a funny look on their face, I looked at my husband and he had a little smirk on his face. I didn't miss a beat, I went on to ask them if they understood what I was saying? (I wanted to make sure we were all in agreement) I put it in their lap; if they keep their room clean they have freedom to have friends over, if they don't I won't fight with them, or nag them to death. I'll just let them know they didn't follow through with what we agreed upon. I have wonderful boy's don't get me wrong, I just need to teach them to pick up after themselves. I'm sure when they get married their wives will be very grateful that I taught them to take care of their belongings. My husband is so good about this, his Mama taught him well. That is just one of many things I love about my husband.

  2. Neva,

I'll keep you posted! I heard them talking last night and they all decided to throw their close downstair before they went upstair to go to bed. I got a little chuckle out of it. I don't want to frustate the boy's but I do want them to clean up after themselves.

  3. I know what you mean. I used to tell my boys that there was nothing in the world that could make me stop loving them---but there might need to be some changes if they want someone else to even like them--ie.roommates, girlfriends, wives, etc. They smiled and seemed to understand. :)
    Peace

  4. I think you handled that beautifully. If they know you mean business, they'll do their part. Excellent idea.
I think I never appreciate my washer and dryer more than when I have to go to the laundramat. Not fun!!

  5. Neva,

I really want to train my boy's to be good Godly husbands. Men that are in God's Word daily, plus men that will pick up after themselves and not expect their wives to do it. Time will tell if I did a good job or not.

    Linda,

The laundramat wasn't so bad! I meet some interesting people their.
