What Christmas means to me

This morning as I was taking Bo to school, he asked me about my niece and her family. My niece just gave birth to a baby girl right before Thanksgiving. Her husband is the one that will get out of jail on December 19th, 2006. Bo asked if it was true that they didn't have much money and that their children would not get many gifts, if any, for Christmas. His words melted my heart, I just posted yesterday about how selfish I have become and he is thinking about how other's will celebrate Christmas. He told me how he and my 8 year old grandson talked about this the other day at the Awana sleepover. I am sorry but right now I am crying, because of my very sinful selfish attitude yesterday, not just yesterday but lately. Another reason for my broken heart is my little boy and grandson ministering to me, by thinking and caring about others, not just thinking about presents for themselves. Bo told me that they (My grandson and Bo) decided to put their money together and give it to Terra so she can buy Christmas present for her children.

I have to get ready for work but I will continue this story tomorrow. There is more to share.

Out of Bo’s mouth to his mother's heart, I am reminded of “What Christmas means to me”. No more selfish behavior but a thankful one for what God has done for me.

What does Christmas mean to you? I would love to hear about it. If you will put this in a post on your blog, I will copy it to mine and link over to yours.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

John 3:16

What a profound post about what Christmas should mean. This is my blessing for today along with your kind words on my blog.

  2. We often think that children really don't know what the true meaning of Christmas is all about but these two little boys certainly proved that wrong! How wonderful that they would give up their money so that those other children can have presents at Christmas...warms the heart, doesn't it!

  4. What does Christmas mean to me? SO many things. I will have to think about your challenge. In a way, I think all of my posts in December reflect what Christmas means to me, on various different levels. If I come up with a particularly salient post, I'll come back and let you know so you can link. :-)

Thanks for your reflections. You have a very giving heart.
