The Facts of "Light"

I am working in our Awana clubs this year; I worked in this club for 11 years and than took a few years off to be in a prayer group with my husband. This year, I will be working with 3rd and 4th grade girls. I have to bring them a council time message so I thought I would do it on the days of creation. I know some of the girls learned this truth about God when they were younger, I thought it would be nice to bring to them the days of creation in a different light. I will be posting what I have come up with all week, or until the 6 days of creation are over.

I really want to put my whole heart into working with these young girls. I was so blessed last Wednesday at our first Awana meeting. The person that will be the Director over the group I will be involved in this year, so happens to be a young woman that I had in Awana years ago. She is now a wife, mother, and faithful servant for our Lord. How awesome is that!

On the first day of creation, God created light - and that was all He created that day.

God created light before He created the sun, moon or stars.

Light is energy; light was necessary on the first day of creation to make God's work visible-and to make life possible.

Without light there could be no life! Plants use light to make food, and animals and people eat plants to live. Even coal and oil come from plants, which get their energy from the sun

Gods Word is a light - to show us the right way to go.

Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path".

Jesus said He was the Light of the world

John 8:12, Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life."

God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all

1 John 1:5, This is the message which we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

Christians are also to shine like lights. Jesus wants us to let our lights shine before everyone, so that they may see our good works, and glorify our heavenly Father.

Matthew 5:16, Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God crated the heavens" and the earth.

Jel, green eyed girl on planet earth

I am really looking forward to working with this age group of girls. I got my list of duties tonight that I will have throughout the year. I get to come up with some cool song for the girls to sing each week.

I'm enjoying your Creation posts. I think light is my favorite of the four: light, water, air, earth.
Light is so warming, illuminating, colorful, cheering... I could go on. You're a wonderful student of the Word! It just oozes out of you. Your family is so blessed to have you in their midst.

Thy Word... one of my very favorite verses. It has so many meanings to me. It is a blessing to have His word written in your heart and mind.. What's in your heart comes out of your mouth.. Delights my heart!
